Though there are dozens of different types of schools, the one thing they have in common is that they’re looking for a long-lasting, economical solution when it comes to finding the perfect bathroom stalls.
Solid Plastic Partitions
One solution that most schools are attracted to is the solid plastic partition with continuous stainless steel piano hinges. These stalls are very durable and waterproof which means they can be hosed down if needed. The downside to these solid plastic stalls is that they are not graffiti and scratch resistant. They have a long life and the stainless steel hinges are extremely rugged, usually coming with a 15 year warranty.
Graffiti and Scratch Resistant Partitions
If you’re a school looking into graffiti and scratch resistant models, keep in mind that there is no perfect solution. However, these graffiti and scratch resistant models do an admirable job. The graffiti written by a marker can be easily wiped off with a cleaning solution. Also, while a person determined to vandalize the stall will cause some damage, the scratch resistant stall stands up well. These graffiti and scratch resistant models typically last 10 to 15 years.
If your school is vulnerable to graffiti and vandalism and you’re tired of painting over the graffiti, again and again, this may be a good solution. Even though the models are more expensive, they can provide a good return on investment because they will look better for a longer period of time and you will not have to replace them as often.
ADA Compliance For Schools
When it comes to ADA compliance, the rules for the schools are typically the same as those for any other public building in your state. While the general ADA compliances are more or less the same in all states, each state does have its own specific codes. So before ordering a stall, consult with your local ADA code official. A general requirement for the ADA stall is that the door should be at least 34 inches wide, and the interior of the stall should be at least 5 feet (60 inches) wide.
Each school has its own unique requirements that we make sure to take into consideration. Not sure what’s best for you? Give us a call or email and we’ll be happy to make some suggestions.
